The O-1 is a temporary work visa. The EB-1A is a green card, which means permanent residency. Many clients start with an O-1 and later apply for the EB-1A, as one of our clients did after two O-1 approvals.
It depends on the category and on USCIS processing times. Some petitions, such as O-1 and EB-1A, are eligible for premium processing, which speeds up the decision for an extra government fee.
